Course Synopsis :

To develop knowledge and awareness about the important and development of various industrial minerals and other related mineral-based industries including energy mineral in practical and integrated ways.  Be able to discuss about the broad aspects of industrial mineral in term of geological occurrence, distribution, marketing, economic and application technology.  Broad knowledge about process technology and methods apply in mineral development, exploitation and evaluation techniques. Emphasis will be given to the development of coal, industrial clay, feldspar, mica, silica sand, carbonate rock, heavy mineral (mineral sand), talc and wollastonite which are having direct important to the country developmentand economic interest. To develop skills in evaluating the marketability of industrial mineral deposit (flow sheet) in accordance with industrial requirements and specification through group assignments.

1.     Be able to identify the broad base of industrial mineral with various categories of application and functions

2.     Practically capable to analyse the use of mineral in various downstream manufacturing process and industrial application.

3.     Be able to discuss about the broad aspects of industrial mineral in term of geological occurrence, distribution, and application technology

4.     Competent in analysing the economic and market trend, statistic, and price of mineral demographically and in time space

5.     Capable to identify and classify individual industrial mineral in terms physical, chemical and other characteristic based on industrial classification, requirements and specification.

6.     Be able to evaluate the suitability of industrial mineral resource in accordance with industrial requirement, practice and international standards.
